Sovereign Grace Community Church of Petaluma

Sovereign- An adjective that describes God's rule over all of his creation. In this case, the word modifies the one after it, grace.

Grace - God's unmerited favor. The greatest grace God can show to an person is to forgive their sins and to count them worthy of his eternal glory. The phrase "Sovereign Grace" taken together alerts other christians and the world that we believe that the unmerited favor of God in salvation is subject to the divine choice of God alone.

Community - Originally, this referred to the community of Petaluma. Our church desires to be by and for the community of Petaluma. However, in a more spiritual sense, we our ourselves a community. As believers we network, unite and fellowship together, and so we are our own community, even though many of our member candidates live outside the geographic region of Petaluma.

Church - As stated above, the origin of the word church means called out. We are collectively called out to be Christians distinct from the world.

of Petaluma - We minister in the beautiful but biblically impoverished area of Petaluma, in Sonoma County, California.
